The money will go towards the development of the large Russian sea and river.

The Prime Minister of the Russian government D. Medvedev announced the allocation of 200 billion rubles (~3 mln euro) to improve the marine infrastructure of the Volga and the Caspian. Medvedev noted that water resources and specifically these water arteries are very important for the whole of Russia.

The prime minister also emphasized that in recent years insufficient funds have been allocated for the development of the Volga. In addition, the head of government said he wants to ratify the convention on the status of the Caspian Sea.

Thus, the Russian side will be able to access its mineral resources, as well as establish strong business ties with the countries of the Caspian Five.
